2020 Ordination to the Priesthood
2020 Ordination to the Priesthood

The Most Rev. Mark Joseph Seitz, D.D., Bishop of El Paso, will ordain Iván Montelongo to the priesthood on Friday, June 19, 2020 at 6:30 pm during a live stream Mass at St. Patrick Cathedral in downtown El Paso. Friday is the Feast of the Sacred Heart. The event will be live streamed on the Diocese of El Paso’s Facebook page.

Deacon Iván is serving at St. Raphael Parish. He’s a graduate of Socorro High School, studied at St. Charles Seminary followed by Conception Seminary where he was taught by Benedictine monks, Mundelein Seminary outside of Chicago where he completed his Theology studies, and is now working on his Licentiate of Canon Law (JCL) at Saint Paul University in Ottawa, Canada.

Iván sat down with Fr. Anthony C. Celino, JCL, Pastor of St. Raphael to share his vocational journey during the weekly Thursday gathering called Happy Meetings. He told Fr. Tony that he’s inspired by Saint Pedro de Jesús Maldonado who said, “I have thought of always having my heart in heaven and in the Tabernacle.” Deacon Iván has chosen Matthew 6:21 for his ordination theme: “For where your treasure is, there also will your heart be.”

Please continue to pray for Deacon Iván and for our men in formation.
