9th Annual Scholars Celebration
9th Annual Scholars Celebration

Catholic Foundation Scholars were treated to something special by mail during Catholic Schools Week in honor of the 9th Annual Catholic Foundation Scholars Prayer Breakfast. Schools have worked hard to keep students safe, therefore, the decision was made not to host an in-person gathering.

Catholic Schools Week (January 30 - February 5, 2022) is an annual celebration of Catholic education in the United States sponsored by the National Catholic Educational Association. Schools typically observe the week with Masses, open houses, and other activities for students, families, parishioners, and community members.

The Catholic Foundation awarded $201,611 to 177 Catholic Foundation Scholars attending El Paso’s Catholic Schools during the 2021-2022 school year.

Congratulation to the Bishop’s, Elizabeth Wiehe, Faith, Judge Robert A. & Emma Galvan, Lightbourn Family Fund—John Edward Whittler Memorial, Luz Ulrickson, Michael M. & Clara Miles, Nancy Mendez Saucedo, Notre Dame Club of El Paso, Reverend Monsignor Francis J. Smith, Sisters Caroline and Cecilia Vásquez, OSF, Soñador, and William Randolph Hearst Scholars. The Catholic Foundation is deeply grateful to all Catholic school donors, benefactors, and supporters for your prayer, service, and giving.

All Catholic Foundation Scholars are receiving their scholarship certificate and a treat by mail. Thank you to our “Treat A Scholar” sponsors: Andi & Tom Meece, Deb & James Llewellyn, Emily & Danny Levario, Heather & Joe Balsiger, Linda & Javier Caro, Machelle & Benny Vanecek, and Fr. Tony Celino.

According to the Catholic News Agency, “COVID-19 has caused a significant enrollment increase in many Catholic schools. “Schools have fought to stay open during the pandemic and to recognize the human impact of any measures in light of the human flourishing God wants for all.”

Take time this week and throughout the school year to support your local Catholic schools by praying for the administration, teachers, and students who attend it in a special way.
