Deborah Saucedo Llewellyn, a proud native of El Paso and a graduate of Father Yermo High School’s Class of 1988, is continuing her lifelong commitment to faith, education, and community through two scholarships endowments honoring her late mother, Nancy Saucedo.
Raised alongside her sister by their devoted mother, Nancy Saucedo, Deborah credits her mother’s unwavering dedication for ensuring they received a Catholic education despite life’s many challenges. That foundation of faith and perseverance would go on to shape Deborah’s life and career.
With more than three decades of experience in Human Resources, Deborah spent 26 years as the Employee Relations and Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) Manager at Verizon Corporation. Her professional journey reflects the same values of integrity, service, and leadership that were instilled in her during her formative years at Father Yermo.
Today, Deborah and her husband, James, continue to give back through the Nancy Mendez Saucedo Scholarship Endowment. These scholarships provide crucial support for students at Father Yermo High School, ensuring future generations have access to the same Catholic education that so deeply influenced Deborah’s life. In addition to supporting Catholic education, Deborah is involved with several charitable organizations, including Moffitt Cancer Center, the Alzheimer’s Association, and the American Cancer Society.
Deborah shared her story at the Scholarship Prayer Breakfast at St. Pius in January and touched the hearts of so many mothers in the audience. After the keynote, Deborah returned to Fr. Yermo and visited with Sister Maria where they reminisced about her time in school and how her gift of scholarship will help so many students in need.
Deborah’s story is a testament to the power of faith, family, and education—and a reminder of how one person’s legacy can inspire many.
