As a separate legal entity from the Diocese of El Paso, the Catholic Foundation is not affected by the recent reorganization of the Roman Catholic Diocese of El Paso. We remain committed to our core purpose of raising funds necessary to sustain the parishes, schools, ministries, and charities that continue the teachings of Jesus Christ in our Diocese. All monies raised through the Catholic Foundation are only used for the parishes, programs, services, and ministries for which they are designated. No gifts are used to satisfy legal fees or settlement costs associated with the Roman Catholic Diocese of El Paso’s reorganization.

Now more than ever, we are counting on the community to help us fulfill that mission. Our hearts and prayers remain with the victims and their families.

Congratulations to the 2018 Steward of the Year!
Congratulations to the 2018 Steward of the Year!

The Catholic Foundation received outstanding nominations from pastors across the Diocese of El Paso for the 1st Annual Steward of the Year contest telling us about extraordinary parishioners who demonstrate lives of prayer, service, and giving through ministry, acts of kindness, and compassion. We’re honored to announce that Lynn Sanchez, a parishioner at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, was selected as the 2018 Steward of the Year.

Lynn has been the leader of the Christian Ministry, which seeks to be the “first responders” to whatever need arises in the community. She has participated in Hospitality, Proclaimers, Finance Council, Pastoral Council, Extraordinary Communion Ministers, Thanksgiving Meal Preparations, Christians in Action, Adult Faith Formation, Parent Sessions for Religious Formation, various prayer groups, leading different fundraising activities, the annual festival, Pastoral Care to the Sick and Elderly, and preparing care packages for our migrant brothers and sisters.

Her nominator noted her dedication to making an impact on people’s lives. “A good steward is able to recognize and share the gifts the Lord has given. Mrs. Lynn Sanchez is a living example of an individual who has recognized and shares her God given talents. Mrs. Sanchez is the mother of four children, a dedicated librarian, and always ready to identify the opportunities of service wherever she is. When need calls, her time becomes God’s time to be of service to whoever is in need. This dedication to the well-being of others has allowed her to continue to discover her gifts and talents. Her passion to learn more about her faith gives her a keen perspective to share her faith and to share that passion with others. There is no task that is too small or too big for her to engage and to invite others to participate. As a good steward, she is also well aware of sharing her treasures and works tirelessly to respond to the material needs of the church and the community. She is always looking out for others. This dedication and devotion can only derive from a strong relationship with God.”

Lynn received two tickets to the 12th Annual Foundation of Faith Dinner: Walking with the Saints on Thursday, September 20 at the El Paso Convention Center, and dinner for two at a local restaurant. Holy Spirit Parish won a cash prize of $1,000.

Thank you to all of our participating parishes and congratulations to the nominees. You personify prayer, service, and giving in every thing you do.
