El Paso Giving Day: Support the Permanent Diaconate Program

This year, the El Paso Giving Day campaign will begin on October 8th for a week of “early giving” and end on October 15th, when Walmart will generously match donations up to $300,000 for gifts made online via electronic check or credit card between 12am midnight to 11:59pm until matching funds are met. We’re raising funds to support the Permanent Diaconate Program!

Deacons can baptize, witness marriages, perform funeral and burial services outside of Mass, distribute Holy Communion, and preach the homily, but what most express they love about their vocation is serving people.

Formation to the Permanent Diaconate is a five-year program, which includes one year of discernment and four years of candidacy consisting of formation seminars, academic courses, annual retreats, and parish assignments. Donations from $10 and up are welcome!

Join us for a Virtual Holy Hour on October 15 from 12-1pm at St. Mark Parish. The first 180 people can be accommodated. The event will be live-streamed on the Tepeyac Institute Facebook page. You can send your prayer petitions to Deacon Jesús Cárdenas at jcardenas@elpasodiocese.org by October 14 or add them during the live event.

The Foundation for the Diocese of El Paso is a nonprofit 501 (c) 3 established in 2001 to support the growing needs of our community.
