This past Sunday, we joyfully celebrated Deacon Sunday, a beautiful opportunity to pause, give thanks, and recognize the extraordinary men who have answered God’s call to serve His Church with humble and faithful hearts.
Our deacons are truly a blessing to the Diocese of El Paso. Through their ministry, they bring Christ’s love to life in countless ways. Whether proclaiming the Gospel, assisting at the altar, baptizing our children, witnessing marriages, comforting the grieving, visiting the sick, or reaching out to those most in need, our deacons remind us that true greatness is found in serving others.
Their vocation is one of love, sacrifice, and unwavering dedication. Many balance their ministry with family responsibilities and careers, yet continue to answer God’s call with generosity and grace. Often serving quietly and without recognition, they are living examples of Christ’s words:
“For the Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve.” — Mark 10:45
Through the Progress Annual Ministry Appeal, we are blessed to help support the formation and continued development of our deacons, strengthening these faithful servants as they carry out their sacred calling throughout our Diocese.
And that is the beauty of the Annual Appeal! Every gift, no matter the size, becomes part of something so much greater. Through your sacrificial generosity, you help strengthen vocations, support ministries, and bring the love and hope of Christ into the lives of countless individuals and families.
To our beloved deacons, THANK YOU SO MUCH! Thank you for your YES to the Lord, for the sacrifices you and your families make, for your servant hearts, and for being the hands and feet of Christ in our communities. Your ministry is a gift beyond measure, and we are so incredibly grateful for each of you.
As we celebrate and honor our deacons, may we also be inspired by their example to serve one another with greater love, humility, and compassion.
Please join us in praying for our deacons and their families, that the Good Lord may continue to bless them abundantly, strengthen them in their vocation, and fill their hearts with the joy and peace that come from serving Him.
