Let Us be Brave Like St. Joseph this Lent

The life of Saint Joseph teaches us to have the courage to return to parish life, even when we are uncertain about attending Mass after almost two years of social isolation due to Covid-19.

Saint Joseph teaches us to be brave when we are filled with doubts and insecurities and we don’t know how to serve in ministry. He also teaches us to be brave when we fail to help our parish financially because we believe we don’t have anything to give.

May Saint Joseph’s example of holiness teach us the value of courage these days when we are filled with fear and anxiety due to the pandemic. Let’s us be brave like Saint Joseph.

Saint Joseph was chosen by God to take care of his Most Holy Mother and Son, and brave enough to leave his comfort zone to protect Jesus in unknown lands and earn his daily bread as a carpenter; brave enough to assume his ministry of father and husband, taking care of a child that was not of his own. He was also brave enough to give his life to God despite his own doubts and insecurities.

And this is how Saint Joseph invites us to continue our life of faith, courage, and forgiveness during Lent. The Church of El Paso awaits you with open arms on the Solemnity of Saint Joseph. “Return to me with all your heart, with fasting, weeping, and mourning.” — Joel 2:12.
