As a separate legal entity from the Diocese of El Paso, the Catholic Foundation is not affected by the recent reorganization of the Roman Catholic Diocese of El Paso. We remain committed to our core purpose of raising funds necessary to sustain the parishes, schools, ministries, and charities that continue the teachings of Jesus Christ in our Diocese. All monies raised through the Catholic Foundation are only used for the parishes, programs, services, and ministries for which they are designated. No gifts are used to satisfy legal fees or settlement costs associated with the Roman Catholic Diocese of El Paso’s reorganization.

Now more than ever, we are counting on the community to help us fulfill that mission. Our hearts and prayers remain with the victims and their families.

A total of 5,500 donors contributed $1,924,673 to 216 nonprofits during the 5th Annual El Paso Giving Day! The Foundation is deeply grateful for everyone who gave a total of $10,225 in support of permanent deacons, and for your continued prayers.

El Paso Giving Day is an online charitable giving campaign designed to ignite the spirit of giving to support causes in our community. Founded in 2016 by the Paso del Norte Community Foundation, El Paso Giving Day has raised over $5.8 million from thousands of donors for over 200 nonprofit organizations.

This year, the Foundation focused on raising funds for the Permanent Diaconate Program. In addition to promoting support of permanent deacons, Deacon Jesús Cárdenas led a Virtual Holy Hour on October 15 from 12-1pm at St. Mark Parish. The event was live-streamed on the Tepeyac Institute Facebook page.

Deacons can baptize, witness marriages, perform funeral and burial services outside of Mass, distribute Holy Communion, and preach the homily, but what most express they love about their vocation is serving people. They are a vital part of our faith life and your donations will make a meaningful impact.
