Founding board member, Leroy Baeza, and his wife Rose, are the 2016 recipients of the Foundation of Faith Dinner’s Annual Dei Gratia Award.

Founding Board Member Rudolph “Rudy” Miles, a stalwart in our community, passed away on June 23, 2016. He and his wife, Elvia, gave generously to the Retired Priest Appreciation Fund, the Seminarian Education Fund, the St. Patrick Cathedral Historic Preservation Fund and Father Yermo Schools.

In 2016, the Foundation is awarding $158,498 in financial aid to 71 Foundation Scholars attending El Paso’s Catholic Schools.

A papal fundraising dinner for the benefit of the Diocese of El Paso, hosted by Nora & Ernie Herrera of The Herrera Group, with the generous participation of the Congreso, was held on Wednesday, January 27 in anticipation of the visit from Pope Francis to Juárez next month.

Catholic Extension challenged El Paso to raise $150,000 for the Seminarian Education Endowment Fund with a 1:3 match and donors responded. This challenge brought in over $175,000 in new gifts and Catholic Extension matched your efforts with another $50,000.

Seminarians serenaded the Serra Club during the annual celebration of our future priests. They are a bright group of young men who will lead our diocese in the future.

We were fortunate enough to attend the Blessing of the Holy Doors and Mass to launch the Holy Year of Mercy last night at St. Patrick Cathedral, the mother church of the diocese.
