The Catholic Foundation congratulates Catholic Legacy Fund Assistant, Alyssa Salazar, on being selected as a recipient of Catholic Extension’s Young Adult Leadership Initiative (YALI) scholarship. Alyssa was accepted to the University of Notre Dame Graduate School and begins her studies this summer.

Fr. Trinidad Fuentez, Rector of St. Patrick Cathedral in downtown El Paso, passed away on May 4, 2021 at the age of 69. He had a great love for our Blessed Mother and was a dedicated priest. Fr. Trini was born in Pecos, Texas, on January 10, 1952 to Daniel and Joaquina Fuentez. He was one of 15 children.

Pastors and volunteer lay leaders attended a virtual 2021 kick-off on March 31. Established in 1983, Progress, the Catholic Ministry Appeal, provides funding for the 15 ministries in the 10 counties of the Diocese of El Paso. The kick-off celebration assists Progress leaders with the resources needed to launch the annual event.

Bishop Mark Seitz will ordain five men to the Sacred Order of the Diaconate on Friday, April 16 at 6:30pm at St. Frances Xavier Cabrini. The Diocese of El Paso will be livestreaming the Ordination Mass on the diocesan Facebook page.

The restored Sacred Heart of Jesus statue was unveiled during the recording of the Divine Mercy Mass at St. Patrick Cathedral on April 8, 2021. Parishioners were visibly moved and Bishop Mark received rousing applause.

On March 21, 2020, the Diocese of El Paso announced it would innovate in order to continue serving the community during the COVID-19 crisis. KVIA initiated a partnership with the Diocese and offered to broadcast Mass every Sunday at 11am to give the opportunity to Catholics across the Borderland to continue to celebrate Mass.

The Casa Guadalupe Retreat House raised $8,100 during an online auction from March 12-14 for the plaza and prayer garden through the sale of figurines, hand painted by our bishop and local priests, Talavera tiles, and donations. Now it’s time for you to visit!
