There was an outpouring of grief when the St. Patrick Cathedral Sacred Heart statue was vandalized last September. Shock and sadness brought together donors from all over the country who felt compelled to pray and to give. Today, the statue is restored and making its way back to St. Patrick Cathedral.

Catholic Extension has joined the UN Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC) to engage global youth in raising awareness of religious freedom and cultivating inter-religious respect with a campaign called #forSafeWorship and they are looking for video submissions from our diocese! We’re celebrating Catholic Schools Week and Kaylee, a 6th grader at St. Raphael Catholic School who created Bear-a-thon, sent 1,000 letters to police officers to offer encouragement, and has been invited to give motivational speeches at the Ysleta Independent School District.

Catholic schools throughout the Diocese of El Paso will celebrate the 47th Annual Catholic Schools Week from January 31 to February 6. This year’s theme is “Catholic Schools: Communities of Faith, Knowledge and Service.”
